Inspiration

The idea for the website came from a workshop at the hackathon on fitness tracking. We wanted to create something related to healthcare and had seen firsthand the challenges of managing patient data. We may also have been inspired by a loved one who received healthcare and saw the impact that poor data management can have on patient care.

What it does

The website allows users to input large amounts of data in a structured format, making it easy to access and analyze. The website also includes features that make it ideal for use in hospitals and other healthcare settings, such as the ability to edit data and the option to omit certain information if necessary.

Here are some of the benefits of using this website for patient data management: Improved efficiency and accuracy: The website's structured data format makes it easy to enter and access patient data quickly and accurately. This can help healthcare providers to save time and reduce errors. Better patient care: The website's features can help healthcare providers to provide better patient care. For example, the ability to edit data allows providers to keep patient records up-to-date, and the option to omit certain information allows patients to maintain their privacy

How we built it

We chose to build a website instead of an app because it was a simpler project for our team, given our lack of experience with app development. Websites are also more accessible to a wider range of users, as they can be viewed on any device with a web browser.

To build our website, we used the following steps:

Planning: We first created a plan for our website, including the layout and what the website is about Development: We then used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to develop our website. HTML is the language used to create the structure of a web page, CSS is the language used to style the page, and JavaScript is the language used to add interactivity to the page. We purchased a .tech domain for our website and used x10hosting to host our website cause .tech domains do not have a hosting service We are happy with the results of our website-building efforts. We are also proud that we were able to learn new skills and build a project together as a team.

Challenges we ran into

Time management: We were new to hackathons, so we didn't manage our time well. Launching the website: This was the hardest part for us, as it was our first time buying a domain. Launching a website. Additionally, .tech domains do not have a dedicated hosting site, which made the process even more challenging. However, after three hours of work, we were able to figure it out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Participating in our first hackathon was a significant achievement, allowing us to gain valuable insights into web development and teamwork within a short timeframe. We were happy to successfully submit a functional project during the event. Additionally, launching our website for the first time was a worthy accomplishment. This experience taught us about the challenges of acquiring a domain name, configuring DNS settings, and setting up a web hosting server. Working collaboratively as a team was an invaluable experience that enriched our learning. We fostered mutual growth, supported each other, and cultivated a strong sense of camaraderie during the project.

What we learned

Lack of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript: Some of our team members were not familiar with these languages, which slowed down the programming process.

What's next for Patient Review

There are a lot more things to add to this website for example; a way to sort patients, a way to download a PDF copy after creating a list, and make the website more appealing.
