Inspiration

The inspiration for this project came from the increasing risk of patient data being lost, exposed, or accessed without permission. We wanted to create a system where patients can securely manage their medical records and have better control over who can access them.

What it does

Our system provides a secure platform for storing and managing patient medical records. Patients and doctors log in using authentication. Medical data entered by doctors is securely stored, and doctor access is limited to one month. After that, the patient retains access to the stored reports.

How we built it

We built the system using HTML and CSS for the frontend, Python for the backend, and MySQL for database management. The application works through a web browser and uses authenticated access and encrypted data storage to protect patient information.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges were designing secure access for both doctors and patients, managing time-limited doctor access, protecting stored medical records, and developing the system to work completely offline without depending on an internet connection.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We developed a centralized patient record management system with authenticated doctor–patient access, time-limited doctor permissions, secure record storage, and offline operation. Patients can also securely print their medical records when required.

What we learned

We learned how to develop a complete web-based application using frontend, backend, and database technologies. We also gained practical knowledge about authentication, data security, database management, and controlling user access.

What's next for Patient Record Safeness

In the future, the system can be expanded for larger hospitals and multiple specialties. We can also add cloud integration, mobile applications, AI-based analytics, IoT health monitoring, and telemedicine features.
