Inspiration
Coronavirus interrupts the treatment of millions of long-term chronic patients, such as those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease or Multiple Sclerosis. These patients need regular medical monitoring and adjustments to their therapy. However, real-time video apps are not suitable for medical assessment, due to quality and connectivity issues. We created a video message application that solves this problem, and helps provide uninterrupted remote care for millions of people during and after the COVID-19 crisis. It also makes the job of doctors easier and creates value for pharmaceutical companies.
What it does
patient >record is a video message application that lets patients or their caregivers carry out and record medical checkups from the safety of their homes and without making an appointment. Doctors have access to a curated video instruction library and can record their own video instructions as well. Patients get notified if a checkup is due, and can follow the on-screen video instructions received from their doctors. Doctors can review full-HD, GDPR-compliant patient videos at any time.
patient >record will also use our proprietary AI technology to pre-assess fine motor movements in the patient videos. This weekend we added a live video call feature to create a unified platform for both regular offline medical examinations and scheduled online consultations.
How we built it
We used a rapid prototyping methodology and we used the advice of doctors whose problem we tried to solve.
Challenges we ran into
The usual bugs and time pressure :)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We won the #savelives award with patient >record at the Hack the Crisis Hungary in April, followed by extensive media coverage and discussions with international distributors and a global pharma company. We also had our initial calls with two further global pharma companies, thanks to EUvsVirus mentors. The patient >record MVP was completed in only 18 days and we now aim for a live product launch in May.
What's next for patient >record
We want to launch the live product in May. Our default business model is a revenue share with doctors by charging clients. We also want to work together with pharmaceutical companies, for whom we can provide uninterrupted treatment of patients using their medications, a communication channel with doctors and valuable tools and medical data for R&D and clinical trials. We already started talking with 3 global pharma companies, working together with them, national healthcare providers and distributors, we could scale patient >record to millions of users within months.
