Inspiration

When children go see a doctor at a hospital, they struggle to follow the doctor's directions and make healthier choices. In addition, we want to support their understanding of their own health and the ways they should aspire to take care of themselves.

What it does

This platform strives to provide a way to educate children about their own wellness and reward them for doing so. Rewards are a point-based database system that encourages them to play informational games that correspond with their own health experience.

How we built it

Patient Educations is divided into two components - the marketplace and the games. The marketplace is hosted on an AWS EC2 instance utilizing, JavaScript, React.js, Node.js, and Express. The games were built using Interacty and The Unity Engine.

Challenges we ran into

Managing state at multiple levels of components proved to be a challenging aspect. Additionally, implementing proper AR functionality into a mobile application had multiple roadbumps.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to work on a project that we truly believe can help others who are in a tough time.

What we learned

The use of technology can inspire people to change their behaviors for the better.

What's next for Patient Education

We would like to incorporate local partners in the community who would be able to provide additional incentives and support for the users of our service.
