Inspiration 💡
We noticed the search for opportunities is broken: students who truly need programs and scholarships can't find them and when they do, it's not a match
What it does ⚙
Based on a short survey about financial need, accessibility, and learning preferences, our algorithm creates you an "Inclusivity Index" score.
This score will match you with scholarships and other programs that match your qualifications and needs.
Users can save opportunities, track deadlines, and stay organized, saving hours of manual research.
How we built it 🧱
Frontend: React, CSS, TypeScript Backend: Supabase Deployment: Vercel
Challenges we ran into ⚔
Designing an index that is both fair and interpretable was tricky. In addition, we spent hours trying to get our survey results to properly store in Supabase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆
Built a functional matching system in one weekend
Designed an intuitive and visually appealing dashboard
Integrated accessibility settings directly into the platform, making inclusivity not just our mission but a real-time feature
Created a product that solves a real systematic issue
What we learned ⭐️
Implementing Supabase authentication taught us how to handle JWT tokens securely in React apps and protect user data at the database level. In addition, building a fair matching system required us to think beyond simple filters.
What's next for Pathways 🔮
In the future, we want to add a feature to share progress/updates on applications. This way, we will grow a community where everyone can find their path.
