Inspiration

India’s education system shows a massive gap between learning and employability. Students, especially in rural areas, lack access to personalized learning, real-time feedback, and opportunities despite being enrolled in schools.

What it does

Pathway AI is an offline-first, AI-powered learning platform that adapts to each learner’s pace, language, and understanding. It also enables a “learn and earn” model where students become peer mentors and access real job opportunities.

How we built it

We used React and Tailwind for the frontend, Node.js and Supabase for the backend, and integrated on-device AI models like LLaMA and Whisper. We also deploy the system on low-cost devices like Raspberry Pi, enabling entire classrooms to access the platform offline through a local network.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring smooth offline functionality, optimizing AI to run on low-resource devices like Raspberry Pi, and designing for varying connectivity levels were key challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a fully offline-capable AI system, successfully ran it on low-cost hardware like Raspberry Pi, and created a scalable “learn and earn” ecosystem connecting education with income.

What we learned

We learned that building for real-world constraints low bandwidth, low-cost devices, and diverse users requires simplicity, efficiency, and strong system design.

What's next for Pathway AI

We aim to pilot in schools and NGOs using Raspberry Pi-based deployments, expand our mentor marketplace, partner with employers, and scale across rural and semi-urban India.
