Inspiration

Choosing a career is one of the biggest challenges students face. Many students feel confused because there is so much information available online, but very little personalized guidance. We wanted to build a platform that makes career planning simple by helping students discover suitable career options based on their interests and providing a clear path to achieve their goals.

What it does

PathPilot is an AI-powered career guidance platform designed for students. Users begin by taking a career assessment, after which they receive personalized career recommendations. The platform also provides a learning roadmap, an AI Mentor to answer career-related questions, and a profile section where students can track their progress. The goal is to bring career discovery, learning, and guidance together in one place.

How we built it

We developed PathPilot using Python and Flask for the backend, while the frontend was built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Jinja templates. The project was managed using GitHub and deployed online using Render, making it accessible from anywhere.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was connecting different parts of the application so that assessment results could be used across multiple pages. We also faced deployment issues while hosting the project, especially with project dependencies and configuration. Solving these problems helped us understand the complete development and deployment process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we built a complete working prototype from scratch. It includes career assessment, personalized recommendations, learning roadmaps, an AI Mentor, a student profile, and a live website. Successfully deploying the application and seeing it work online was a major milestone for us.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned how to build a full-stack Flask application, organize project files, use GitHub for version control, deploy applications on Render, and solve real-world development challenges. More importantly, we learned the value of teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

What's next for PathPilot

We plan to make PathPilot even more personalized by adding secure user authentication, cloud database integration, a more advanced AI Mentor powered by a real AI model, resume analysis, internship recommendations, and progress tracking. Our long-term vision is to make PathPilot a complete career guidance platform that supports students throughout their learning journey.
