Inspiration

There are lots of learning resources (tutorials, videos, articles) available online. While this access of vast resources to students is valuable, it can also be overwhelming. Many learners spend hours watching tutorials after tutorials without knowing what to learn next. Course Crafter was inspired by the need to turn that endless stream of content into a clear, focused study plan that helps students stay consistent and make real progress.

What it does

Course Crafter helps students create personalized learning journeys around any topic. It breaks broad subjects into structured modules, lessons, and milestones, so learners always know what to study next. Instead of searching through disconnected resources, students can follow an organized course designed around their goals, experience level, and pace.

How we built it

I built Course Crafter as a student-focused learning platform with an intuitive interface for generating, organizing, and following courses. We combined course-planning workflows with AI-powered content suggestions to help transform a topic into a practical learning roadmap. My focus was on making the experience simple enough for students to use quickly while still providing meaningful structure.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was creating learning paths that felt personalized without becoming too complicated. Students have different starting points, goals, and ways of learning, so I needed to make course recommendations flexible and easy to understand. I also worked to ensure that generated content followed a logical progression, from foundational concepts to more advanced material.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that Course Crafter makes learning feel more manageable. Rather than leaving students with a long list of resources, it gives them a step-by-step path they can actually follow. We’re especially proud of building an experience that centers students’ needs: clear direction, achievable goals, and visible progress.

What we learned

I learned that students do not necessarily need more content—they need better guidance. A clear learning path, manageable milestones, and a sense of progress can make a major difference in motivation. I also learned the importance of designing with simplicity in mind, because students are more likely to use tools that reduce stress instead of adding complexity.
