Inspiration

PathoMetabo was created to help students and learners understand complex disease mechanisms in a simple and visual way. While studying pathology and metabolism, I realized that many concepts are difficult to remember because they involve long chains of events. I wanted a tool that could simplify these pathways into easy-to-follow diagrams and concise notes.

What I Built

PathoMetabo is a web app that provides interactive disease pathway maps, linking pathology with metabolic changes. Each disease includes:

  • Disease overview
  • Cause / defect
  • Pathway diagram
  • Key metabolic changes
  • Clinical features (short & clear)

The app is designed to be simple, fast, and user-friendly for students who want quick revision or deeper understanding.

What I Learned

During this project, I learned:

  • How to build a dynamic web app using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • How to structure and fetch data from JSON files.
  • How to create interactive UI components like dropdowns and cards.
  • How to design clean and readable educational content.

Challenges

The biggest challenges were:

  • Designing pathway diagrams that are accurate yet simple.
  • Organizing disease data so it loads efficiently and remains scalable.
  • Making the UI intuitive for both students and beginners.
