Inspiration

Many high school students struggle to create a future plan, as they are unsure what to do after high school - PathForward aims to fix that.

What it does

PathForward is the ultimate tool for high school students to create a plan for their future. It allows them to discover interests they never knew they had, and gives them the tools to act upon this new knowledge.

How we built it

We combined our existing knowledge of React, Typescript, and Python, and supplemented with AI coding tools to help create the application.

Challenges we ran into

We often ran into many errors when integrating the AI features into are website, and those errors would often resurface when making UI updates. We also had many issues throughout our git working tree, with hard-to-resolve conflicts on pull requests and instances of dangling commits.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

AI integration in the website that not only helps the user discover new career interests, but can also help them find reach, match, and safety colleges based on their academic profile and generate roadmaps for them to act upon this, making their job with planning very easy.

What we learned

Fully understanding AI generated code is very important, especially on complex projects, and it is always important to carefully manage your git working tree.
