About the project
DevPath is an AI-assisted learning platform for Vietnamese IT learners. I built it to help learners find a clearer path through technical topics instead of jumping between
scattered resources. The goal was to make learning feel more personal, more structured, and easier to continue over time.
What inspired me
I was inspired by how difficult it can be to know where to start in IT learning. Many learners have motivation, but not a clear roadmap. I wanted to build something that could
understand a learner’s current level, suggest the next step, and keep them moving forward with confidence.
What I learned
Building DevPath taught me how to think about a product as a full system, not just separate features. I learned how to connect frontend, backend, database, and AI services into one flow. I also learned how important it is to keep recommendations practical, consistent, and easy to understand.
To measure progress, I used a simple idea:
[
\text{readiness} = \frac{\text{completed lessons}}{\text{total lessons}} \times 100%
]
How I built it
I built DevPath as a full-stack web app with a React frontend and a NestJS backend. The backend handles authentication, onboarding, learning paths, lessons, quizzes, progress
tracking, payments, and admin tools. The frontend focuses on a clean learning experience with responsive UI, markdown content, and dark mode support.
I used Prisma with PostgreSQL for persistent data, Redis for fast temporary data and backend support, and an AI API for personalized recommendations and tutoring. Docker helped me keep development consistent across environments.
Challenges I faced
The hardest parts were keeping AI responses reliable, making learning recommendations feel relevant, and balancing flexibility with simplicity. As the project grew, I also had to
make sure the different parts of the system stayed organized and worked well together, especially across onboarding, lessons, quizzes, payments, and admin features.
