PatchPilot AI — AI-Powered Debugging Assistant

Inspiration

Debugging can be difficult for students and developers, especially when error messages are confusing. We wanted to make debugging easier with AI-powered explanations and practical solutions.

What It Does

PatchPilot AI analyzes Python code and error messages using Google Gemini. It generates a structured report explaining the root cause, suggesting possible fixes, and providing testing guidance.

How We Built It

We used Python, Streamlit, and Google’s Gemini API. The application has a user-friendly interface, an AI analysis module, and a memory module.

Challenges

Integrating the AI API, organizing the application into modules, and generating clear, useful debugging explanations were our main challenges.

What We Learned

We gained practical experience with AI integration, Python development, web application design, and GitHub version control.

Future Improvements

We plan to explore automated testing, code patch suggestions, GitHub integration, and support for more programming languages.

Limitations

PatchPilot AI currently provides debugging guidance. It does not automatically execute code or modify project files, and its suggestions must be reviewed and tested.
