Inspiration: Ever wondered what it would be like to talk to your younger self? The thoughts, dreams, and innocence of who you were at 10, 15, or even just a year ago. That curiosity sparked PastMe—an AI experiment to bridge the gap between who we were and who we’ve become.
What it does:PastMe lets users:
• Take a short persona quiz so the AI understands their traits.
• Generate an AI avatar of their younger self (child, teen, or even early adult).
• Have a real conversation with this past version—getting advice, nostalgia, or even playful banter.
• Visualize the interaction with a cartoonish avatar that grows younger as you move back in time.
It’s not therapy, not just nostalgia,it’s a way to reconnect with the versions of you that shaped who you are today.
How we built it:
• Used Lovable AI for rapid prototyping of conversational flows.
• Integrated quiz-based persona profiling to make conversations feel personal.
• Added avatar rendering prompts that change based on age span.
• Designed an interactive UI that merges chat + visuals for a more immersive experience.
Challenges we ran into: Making the AI sound younger but still “you” (finding the right tone was tricky).
• Balancing fun vs. serious use cases—it could be nostalgic, but also very emotional.
• Designing avatars that feel human yet not uncanny.
• Time constraints—lots of features we’d love to expand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: • Built a working demo in a short timeframe.
• Came up with a unique, never-seen-before AI use case.
• Designed a visual + conversational combo (most AI chats are just text).
• Got early testers to actually feel connected while chatting with their “past self.”
What we learned: • People love the idea of self-reflection with AI if it feels authentic.
• AI isn’t just about productivity—it can also be about identity, nostalgia, and emotion.
• Building avatars + conversations together creates stronger immersion.
What's next for PastMe: • Add future-self conversations (so you can see who you might become).
• More advanced voice + emotion synthesis to make it even more realistic.
• Integration with journals, photos, and music memories to make the past-self more authentic.
• Turn PastMe into a personal growth companion—not just nostalgia, but self-improvement.
