Inspiration
Since the beginning we wanted to make something with utility. As a result we looked for inspiration through different productivity apps.
What it does
Password vault allows the user to store passwords, notes and addresses. Along with the passwords, the user also has the option to auto generate a secure password that meets their need. I.e. does it need special characters, how long should it be, does it include numbers.
How we built it
We built the app using MIT App Inventor.
Challenges we ran into
Due to the pandemic, our group meetings were virtual. We communicated through Zoom, email and Google docs. At times this mode of communication was not very efficient due to issues like poor internet connections and group response time. Each member of our group had differing coding experience. The virtual environment made it difficult to provide the support that some group members needed. Another challenge we encountered was with the tool. MIT App Inventor is not an object-oriented program. You need to build everything you want in the designer and you cannot create more during run time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our main accomplishment is being able to store the data locally. Utilizing the tiny database and having it store the users data was a major milestone in the development of our app.
What we learned
Throughout the project we learned the importance of thinking through the process of development. At times we hit a roadblock that prevented us from moving forward.
What's next for Password Vault
In future iterations of our project we would look to add better colors, a more intuitive user experience, and better security.
