Inspiration

During 2020, I had this good habit of putting different passwords for every single website, while this may be good and prevent my accounts from getting hacked even if one account got compromised, it wasn't very efficient, cause I wasn't able to remember my passwords, so I challenged myself to build a password manager for this hackathon.

What it does

It's very simple, it uses a database, inputs our passwords, and saves it for future reference, since it's very minimalistic, it's very easy accessing the passwords.

How I built it

I used python , MySQL and the MySQL connector for python to do this project. I made the cli using python and the database is using mysql.

Challenges I ran into

I ran into bugs while trying to authenticate an existing user with their account, but later after many tabs of StackOverflow and w3schools, I figured out a way to do it!

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The whole project, this was the first time of me using MySQL, so am really proud of it.

What I learned

I learnt basic SQL queries first then how to use it with python and different techniques of storing data and extracting it!

What's next for Password Manager

A UI mostly, since its currently only on the command line.
