Inspiration
Our school passwords were assigned to us in third grade. As a result of this, some of us have used our school passwords more than once as a password for other sites. One of us used our school password for Microsoft and twitter, and they were both hacked into over the weekend. So, we decided to create this website to help others who might also be using an unsecure password.
What it does
This contains 2 tools. One tool is the password generator, which can easily and quickly generate you a secure readable password. These tools can be used by students and teachers alike to keep their many accounts safe. This is very useful for students and faculty, because it can easily generate a secure password. Many teachers encourage you to simply use the same password for everything, but that can lead to all of your accounts being compromised.
How we built it
We went into a voice call for a few hours, with both of us working on the css, html, and js simultaneously.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into was the memorable password generator. We found it difficult to generate the correct number of characters with a random sequence of words.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of finishing this website using JavaScript, as the both of us have little js experience since we normally code in java.
What we learned
We learned a lot about how to optimize javascript code and make the code more efficient.
What's next for Password Assistant
We're planning on adding more checks for the strength generator, in order to make it more accurate.
