Inspiration
Traveling internationally often means juggling several disconnected tools like passport information, visa requirements, itineraries, maps, photos, and memories from the trip. At the same time, a physical passport is one of the few objects that naturally tells the story of where someone has been through stamps and visas.
What it does
Atlas Duo is a digital travel passport for the iPhone Duo. Users can view passport stamps, country information, visa details, and past trips. Its Pro feature, Travel Trail, visualizes an active trip as a live route, with the map on one side of the Duo and trip statistics and timeline information on the other.
How we built it
We built Atlas Duo using Bitrig’s iPhone Duo environment and designed the experience around fold state and device posture. We also integrated RevenueCat to demonstrate entitlement-based access to optional Travel Trail enhancements without putting essential travel information behind a paywall.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was UI features that kept breaking and being misaligned with the structure of the iPhone.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the UI coming together the way it has to produce something visually appealing.
What we learned
We learned that building for a foldable device made us think differently about mobile interaction. We had to think about posture, hinge state, physical orientation, etc.
What's next for Atlas Duo
Next, we’d like to add real location-based route tracking, automatically earned city and country stamps, transportation detection, offline trip data, and shared Travel Trails for groups traveling together. We would like to add AI features that give detailed trip summaries and recommendations for future trips based on travel history/preferences.
