Inspiration
We wanted to create a simple app that helps empower people while doing their daily tasks. Everyone is always on the internet these days due to everything being virtual, so why not a quick pick me up in the middle of your day!
What it does
When the user activates our extension, every new tab they open will play an inspiring video to help motivate them! It will continue motivating them till they decide they are ready to work.
How we built it
We built it using HTML/CSS, Javascript and JSON.
Challenges we ran into
One of the challenges we faced during development was creating the randomizer. Having been aware that arrays are not possible within HTML we were forced to find a solution in which we could create an array from which the random videos are played. We solved this by creating a new javascript file labeled randomizer and calling the script to the HTML body.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to make a functional chrome extension. Also, it was awesome to make some of our friends and family laugh from this hack!
What we learned
This was our first time making a chrome extension so we learned a lot about the fundamentals of a chrome extension. There are many awesome features that can be enabled which we hope to explore in the future.
What's next for Passive Aggressive Motivator
We are looking forward to the future of the app. Our current goals align with creating a platform for individuals to post their own motivational stories to inspire fellow users. Additionally, we are looking into creating this app for different browsers and a possible mobile versions as well.
