Inspiration

I noticed that transit workers often have to rely on manual counting or physical clickers. I wanted to build a modern, mobile-friendly solution that makes this repetitive task faster and less stressful.

What it does

It is an intuitive tracking app designed for transit workers. Instead of manual tallying, workers simply tap their phone screen to count passengers boarding a bus or subway, instantly recording and saving the numbers.

How we built it

The application was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I focused on creating a clean, responsive layout that looks great on mobile phones and uses JavaScript to manage the counting logic and user interactions in real-time.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was making sure the user interface was completely distraction-free. The tap mechanism needed to be highly responsive and simple so that workers wouldn't miss a count during busy rush hours.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of transforming a tedious, manual process into something incredibly fast and easy. Building a fully functional counter with a seamless user experience was a big win.

What we learned

It improved my ability to build interactive elements and manage dynamic data using JavaScript. I also learned a lot about optimizing web interfaces specifically for mobile device screens.

What's next for Passenger Counting App

I plan to add features like a daily history log, the ability to export passenger data for transit reports, and offline support so subway workers can use it seamlessly even without an internet connection. And then finally launch it on Playstore and Appstore.
