Inspiration
We were inspired by our summer travels as we had our own experiences purchasing plane tickets. With these experiences, we were curious to see how the number of passengers could be explained.
What it does
Our project explains that customers are more sensitive to price changes when the plane flights are shorter and this information tells airlines to remain competitive with shorter distances but can set higher prices for longer flights.
How we built it
We used R in order to clean our data, create visualizations, and create multiple linear regression models.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered challenges when creating our linear models as it was difficult to assess how to increase our multiple r-squared values. We started with a different project idea, however, ran into other issues with complexity. This caused us to restart our project halfway through the event.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of overcoming the initial failure and being able to restart without giving up.
What we learned
We learned a lot about multiple linear regression models and analyzing their summary tables.
What's next for Passenger Behaviors
Further research could include more variables that may increase the multiple r-squared values and explain more of the variability in the number of passengers.
