Inspiration

I was inspired by the website LifeWeb360, which allows people to post memories online about a person that has recently passed away.

What it does

Families of the deceased can apply for an account by submitting a death certificate and proof of relationship to the deceased (namely, marriage certificates if they are the spouse or a birth certificate if they are a child or the parent of the deceased). They will be given a memorial code. Then family and friends can log in to the website, use the memorial code, and post messages and memories about the deceased. Every message counts as a transaction and is added to the blockchain. Then hbar (Hedera's cryptocurrency) is added to the family's account. The family can use this cryptocurrency in order to pay for funeral costs or anything else that they need.

How we built it

I tried to use Hedera in order to build a simple blockchain web app framework.

Challenges we ran into

I was unable to figure out how to use Hedera in time, and I struggled because I was trying to work with a Python wrapper instead of the normal Java/Javascript/Go SDK.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I at least figured out my idea and articulated it.

What we learned

I learned how to install and configure a Hedera app.

What's next for Pass On-Memorial Crypto

I need to make it a functional website, as well as figure out the blockchain aspects.
