Inspiration

I jumped right into this hackathon because my organization wants to host a hackathon potentially hosted by devops. So what better way to get a sense for how DevOps runs a hackathon then to participate in one. So here I am.

What it does

This project takes two movie titles as input (the more different thematically the better), and then generates a plot of a new movie that mashes up the plots of the two original identified movies. Also generated is a new movie poster for the movie. For the final element of the project, the "director" of this new movie wants an idea for a sequel. Upon getting that idea, the director will spin out the plot of this sequel, too.

How we built it

I used the PartyRock AWS tool to add a collection of AI widgets to generate the output.

Challenges we ran into

This was a fun little project. When supplied with fun disparate combinations of movies, you can get some crazy silly response. Other times PartyRock doesn't quite know how to mash up the two movie ideas so it just ends up being an alternating recitation of the separate plots without much synergy.

What we learned

AI can be a powerful shorthand workhorse. But there is no substitute for human creativity.
