Parties and concerts in summer can be dangerous, since you not only have to worry about physical harm, but also dehydration, large crowds, and overheating. Other issues that can happen, such as substance abuse. This app is meant to make sure that everyone can stay safe by looking out for each other, while having fun.

What it does

This application gives resources to prevent bad things from happening, and allowing groups of friends to keep track of and take care of each other, so everyone stays safe.

How we built it

We used replit to build a website. We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the design aspects, then Django to include complex applications, such as different views.

Challenges we ran into

We were unable to find a platform that worked for many of us in the beginning and had to spend a lot of time looking into different options that ended up not working out in the end. We ended up losing two team members in the middle, which made it difficult to adjust the workload.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite running into many problems, we got a good amount of the project done, especially since none of us knew the same languages, and since this was our first hackathon.

What we learned

We learned about HTML5 and Django, and we learned about the overall process of creating a web application under time constraints.

What's next for Party.Smart

We want to incorporate structures that will allow for sign in and saving of data, as well as a map that would allow people in the same group to find each other. We also would like to shift this program from a website to an app.
