Active in the metaverse since 2019, a passionate builder in Meta Horizon Worlds. A retired business owner with a love for building overcame significant personal and technical challenges—such as adapting to Horizon’s building tools and working through the effects of Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsonism. Despite these obstacles, I have flourished in the supportive creator community, developed my skills through persistence, and proudly participates in the Meta Horizon Creator Program. My journey is a powerful example of creativity, resilience, and the joy of shared virtual experiences.
What Inspired Me:
I’ve always had a passion for building and decorating, and when I discovered the metaverse back in 2019, it felt like the perfect place to bring my ideas to life. As a retired business owner, I wanted a new creative outlet—something fulfilling and fun. Seeing others build amazing things in Horizon Worlds lit a fire in me, and being part of the community kept me inspired every step of the way.
What I Learned:
It took years of patience and practice, but I learned how to work within Horizon’s tools and limitations. I also learned the value of persistence—especially when you're starting from scratch in a new digital world. One of the most important lessons was that progress matters more than perfection. Every step forward in building taught me something new about myself, about design, and about how powerful this platform can be.
How I Built My Project:
I started by experimenting with small builds and decorations, getting a feel for how Horizon Worlds worked. Over time, I developed my skills through trial and error, watching tutorials, and asking for advice from the amazing friends I met along the way.
Challenges I Faced:
The biggest challenge has been my health—I have Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsonism, along with a cognitive disorder. My hands shake, and that can make building a real struggle some days. On top of that, the technical learning curve of Horizon Worlds wasn’t easy. But I refused to let any of it stop me. Being part of a community that lifts each other up made all the difference. In the end, finishing my projects felt like an incredible accomplishment.
