Inspiration-

Our journey began with a spark of inspiration from our teammate Omer's passion for parkour. He had previously developed a basic coin-collector game, but we knew we could take it to new heights and make his parkour dreams of MR fly as high as he does!

We thought of creating not just a game, but a franchise that would revolutionize the way people can improve their parkour skills!

What it does-

Introducing Parkio, the Mixed Reality parkour game that's about to change your workout routine forever. Forget trying to parkour with your phone in hand - that's so last year. Parkio is designed for the gym, transforming your daily grind into an exhilarating adventure. Strap on your Meta Quest headset and prepare for a hands-free parkour experience like no other. Our cleverly placed virtual coins in a scene-recognised environment, guide you through an immersive obstacle course, challenging your agility and pushing your limits.

How we built it-

To bring our vision to life, we harnessed the power of Unreal Engine and the Meta Presence Platform. Parkio's immersive experience is built on a foundation of passthrough technology, scene capture, spatial anchors, and the Interaction SDK. These cutting-edge tools allowed us to create a seamless blend of the real and virtual worlds, giving players an unparalleled parkour experience.

Challenges we ran into-

Of course, no great project comes without its share of challenges. Some of the hurdles we faced truly tested our team's spirit to the test, but they also showcased the incredible power of collaboration. Our greatest challenge was when the main PC decided to throw us a curveball, overheating and shutting down due to an uncooperative cooling system - talk about feeling the heat! Then there was the peculiar case of the disappearing coins; our virtual currency had a knack for spawning beneath the obstacles, playing an unintended game of hide-and-seek. And let's not forget the nail-biting build times that tested our patience with each iteration. Another challenge was crafting multiple difficulty levels that were just right - not too easy, not too hard, but perfectly Parkio. Each of these obstacles could have been a showstopper, but for us, the Platform Pilots, they were merely hurdles in our parkour-inspired development journey. We leapt over them with the same agility we hoped to inspire in our players!

Accomplishments that we're proud of-

Throughout this project, we've learned that parkour isn't just about physical skill - it's a mindset. With the best team by your side, any obstacle(no pun intended) can be conquered, the biggest accomplishment was the team spirit, even the biggest challenge didn't pull us down. We've mastered the art of always having a Plan C because let's face it, sometimes even Plan B falls short. This journey has pushed us beyond our limits, both individually and as a team, allowing us to unlock the potential we never knew we had. The tech insights we've shared along the way have also been nothing short of mind-blowing. Without a doubt, our team- Platform Pilots, is our biggest accomplishment.

What we learned-

Creating Parkio has been an incredible journey of growth, innovation, and teamwork. Every obstacle we faced only fueled our determination to create something truly extraordinary. The laughter, the late nights, and the eureka moments have all contributed to a project we're immensely proud of. Parkio isn't just a game - it's a testament to what can be achieved when passion meets technology. We've had an absolute blast bringing this Mixed Reality parkour experience to life, and we can't wait to see players leaping, vaulting, and rolling their way to fitness in gyms across the world!

For the newbies, we're partnering with AcroAcademy to offer a free 1-hour beginner lesson. We're all about building bridges (and vaulting over them), so we're building collaboration and partnership workshops with parkour experts to keep you on your toes. But wait, there's more! We're designing mind-bending new levels that'll challenge even the most trained traceurs. For our competitive spirits out there, get ready for monthly challenges where the winners don't just get bragging rights - we're talking prizes that'll make your parkour-loving heart skip a beat!
