Inspiration

The inspiration came from the task from the Federal Reserve of Richmond challenge.

What it does

The program will automatically create a clear-text file database that holds all instances of parking spaces for the lot. It will graphically ask the user which choice they want to make. It will output the results graphically and as well in the database. For what the program is designed, it will reserve any spots that are currently available.

How I built it

We used IDE called Jgrasp for programming this in Java.

Challenges I ran into

Ultimately, team build-up from the beginning was first; I(Khurum) have never met Mark and Andres before nor ever attended VCU. However, our goal was what brought us together and make this application come to life. We also ran into numerous bugs in our code which took most of our time to debug and some members lack the knowledge in Java programming.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We created an application with 2500 database records, that graphically shows the input and output of our code. Also, we were able to meet new friends and sponsors and expand our social network.

What I learned

Teamwork is the key factor to any team-based programming projects, and with a 24-hours limit on our project, it was a very intense but at the same time, worthwhile and fun competition. We were able to meet all the sponsors and get to know about them and their companies, meet new people with the same passion for programming as us.

What's next for Parking Registration Program

We would like to make our program more intelligent with more features for practical uses. It can keep track of any kind of reservation in its database like parking, room, table and seat reservation after some improvements.
