Inspiration
GSU CETL DLL challenge This idea comes from myself when I go to GSU and find the spot in parking lot among many GSU parking lots. At GSU, we have many parking lots, but they are usually full at noon. If I arrive at the full parking lot, I have to go the another one. I waste a lot of time to find the spot to park. Sometimes, it took me an hour because driving around to find the lot is available. Using this app will save a lot of time for seeking space in parking lot
What it does
It helps students when they want to look for which parking lot still has available spaces. When they near by school, they open this app, they know where still has available space to go, they don't need to go around. After they check in, the space available will reduced by one, it is updated in real time firebase db, other students can see it if they open the app. when they check out, the available space will increase. So, every student is looking for space in any parking lot, they can use this app to save a lot of time.
How I built it
This is an android app was built with android studio, using google realtime database firebase and Java as a programming language
Challenges I ran into
Don't have hardware like in real parking
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
built an app in the short period time, this is very new for me, motive me to create the other app in future
What I learned
This is very new for me, so I learn a lot from it such as working with listview, how to show data onto listview using custom adapter...
What's next for Parking Helper
Applying with real hardware and get data when they scan the permit card instead of student check in/out on the app
