Inspiration
Our inspiration came from trying to pay to park at Michigan State University and spending too much time trying to register for a spot
What it does
Our app asks for the user's location and depending on their location a parking lot will pop up if they are in the lot. Next, they will be prompted to pay and the app runs a script based on the platform the owners of the lot use to collect payments. Next we pre-charge the user an amount of money like some gas stations and refund the difference from the actual cost of their parking.
How we built it
We built the web script using puppeteer, and the mobile app using React native js and TypeScript.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating the script with the app was a challenge because puppeteer updated their language and got rid of a crucial function to integrate into the app
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a 90%+ functional app in a short timeframe and testing our app on the Michigan State University campus.
What we learned
Web bots are very sensitive and Google has good bot detection.
What's next for Swift Park
We hope to work with parking companies to have API access and launch our app for users this Fall or Summer.
