Inspiration
This project was inspired by my own experience while learning electronics. Reading resistor values manually can be slow and error-prone, especially for beginners. I wanted to create a tool that could help automate this process using computer vision.
What it does
It detects the value of Resistance using opencv
How we built it
The project uses Python with the OpenCV library to process images and identify resistor bands. Basic image segmentation and color recognition techniques are applied to detect band positions and map them to their corresponding values
Challenges we ran into
*Getting consistent results with varying lighting and image quality *Identifying and separating color bands accurately up to some extent *Mapping detected colors to standard resistor values
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a working prototype that can detect resistors from images
What we learned
*Gained first hands-on experience with OpenCV and computer vision techniques *Took an idea from personal learning pain-point and turned it into a tool
What's next for ParkerSketch
This is just the beginning. As I continue to learn more about computer vision, deep learning, and web technologies, I aim to improve this tool’s accuracy and usability. I hope to eventually turn it into a web or mobile app and work on more innovations that can make a real, positive impact on society.
