Inspiration
Students and staff at USF face a daily challenge: finding a parking spot. Long searches, wasted time, and unnecessary stress make commuting frustrating and inefficient. Our project was inspired by this shared struggle and need for a smarter, more practical solution that helps the USF community save time, reduce hassle, and navigate campus more smoothly. By improving the parking experience, we aim to make USF a more accessible, efficient, and student-centered university.
What it does
While other maps just show you static locations, Parkabull is dynamic. We built a weighted algorithm that ingests two data streams: historical usage trends and real-time user check-ins. We process this data to generate a live 'Parking Score' from 0 to 100 for every lot. The frontend is built in React for instant visual feedback.
How we built it
React, Tailwind CSS, JavaScript
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges rendering the “parkabull” logo onto the navigation bar, recording audios, and making videos.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a project, making friendships, collaborating with others, and coordinating a team.
What we learned
We learned how to use generative AI to build an app, create codes, and work with other people.
What's next for Parkabull
We used our own data but in the future we will implement an API for parking data. We will also promote our app on various social media platforms, especifically on TikTok, Instagram, Linkedin, and YouTube.
