Inspiration

Our inspiration for 'Park Smart' came from looking at the vast, sprawling parking lots around us. It's amazing how much space is dedicated to parking, yet finding a spot can still be such a hassle. We thought, why not make this easier? That's how 'Park Smart' was born - out of a desire to make better use of the ample parking space available and to ease the stress of finding a spot.

What it does

'Park Smart' is our simple solution to parking woes. It's a web-based application where you enter your current location, and it shows you the nearest parking spots. We kept it straightforward - just type in your coordinates, and voila! You get information about the closest parking areas.

How we built it

We built 'Park Smart' using HTML and JavaScript, keeping it basic and beginner-friendly. We started with designing a user-friendly webpage, then added functionality where users can input their location, and the app will display nearby parking information. While we initially planned to use Python and Flask for more complex features, we decided to focus on the basics first.

Challenges we ran into

Okay, so combining Python and Flask? Harder than we thought! We were just beginners, and it felt like hitting a wall. We spent hours trying, getting all these errors, and honestly, it was a bit overwhelming. So, we decided to keep it simple – we stuck to HTML and a little JavaScript. It was about making something that worked, even if it wasn't super fancy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud of just getting 'Park Smart' up and running! Creating a functional webpage, even a simple one, from scratch was a huge accomplishment for us. It was awesome to see our idea come to life and to know that we built it ourselves.

What we learned

This project was a big learning experience. We got a hands-on understanding of web development basics and learned a lot about problem-solving and adapting when things don't go as planned. We also realized the importance of starting small and building on our skills gradually.

What's next for Park Smart

For 'Park Smart', the sky's the limit! Now that we have the basics down, we're excited to add more features. We're thinking of integrating a map, adding real-time parking availability, and maybe revisiting the idea of using Flask for more advanced functions. We're also keen on making the interface more interactive and user-friendly. 'Park Smart' is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see where it goes
