Inspiration

COVID-19 has made it difficult to get out and do things. I feel as though parks are a great way to get outside, have fun, and still social distance.

What it does

It takes the users location then finds and displays parks near the user.

How we built it

I built it using Swift for iOS.

Challenges we ran into

Just about every step. I had to figure out how to use Apple's MapKit library, CoreLocation Library, make the UI look as nice as I could, and design the logo and app icon. I really had to use the documentation often, which will be helpful for future bigger projects.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I was able to get this app working in the time allotted. There were many roadblocks that I was able to overcome mentioned above.

What we learned

I learned how to use the libraries listed above. MapKit has a lot of useful functions that, from reading the documentation, I was able to use and it helped a lot. CoreLocation was the same. Lots of nice functions which made my life easier. I learned how to sort in Swift (it's easy). I will be able to use these for future iOS projects. I was able to get a grasp on working with front-end and back-end. I was shaky with Swift syntax, but am a lot more comfortable now after completing this.

What's next for Park Finder

I wanted to add more, but ran out of time. I was planning on adding a favorite's list that would only display parks that the user chose to favorite. I was also hoping to add an on boarding process. The last thing would be to make the main UI look nicer.
