Inspiration
The inspiration for ParivaarAsha came from observing the challenges families face in managing resources, ensuring maternal health, and educating girls. Many communities suffer from the cycle of poverty, early marriage, and lack of awareness about family planning. We wanted to create a solution that empowers families, promotes gender equality, and aligns with SDG 1, SDG 3, and SDG 5.
What it does
ParivaarAsha is an interactive Q&A app that educates users about family planning, maternal health, and girls’ education. It provides informative questions, answers, and resources to help families make informed decisions and break the cycle of poverty.
How we built it
- Language & Framework: Python + Streamlit for a simple web-based interface.
- Data Storage: Questions and answers stored in a JSON file (
data.json) for easy access and scalability. - Features: Interactive Q&A, educational content, links to global resources like UNFPA.
Challenges we ran into
- Managing UTF-8 encoding issues while storing special characters.
- Ensuring the content is globally understandable, not specific to any country.
- Recording the demo video with clear narration and smooth screen capture without additional software.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully created a fully functional, interactive demo in less than 2 days.
- Aligned the content with multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Built an app that is scalable and can be adapted for different languages and communities.
What we learned
- Importance of clear and concise communication for non-technical audiences.
- How to integrate educational content into a user-friendly app interface.
- Handling technical issues like encoding, file formats, and video recording under a tight timeline.
What's next for ParivaarAsha
- Add more questions and topics for broader awareness.
- Include multilingual support to reach diverse communities.
- Add features like resource links, videos, and interactive quizzes for deeper engagement.
