How I built it - Parent Gyan is built using:

Frontend: React Native + Expo Router

Backend: Node.js with Express.js

Database: MongoDB (with Mongoose ORM)

Hosting: AWS EC2 + Nginx

Notifications & Chat: Firebase and Socket.io

Authentication: JWT-based secure login

The app is optimized for both Android and iOS, with a lightweight web version for accessibility.

Challenges I ran into - Getting parents from the same school to easily find and join the right community

Ensuring privacy and trust within each group

Building a smooth, responsive chat interface

Managing real-time updates without overloading the backend

Each of these taught us how to scale a real-time, community-driven platform securely.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of - Building an app that already connects hundreds of parents across multiple schools

Achieving 95% uptime with smooth real-time messaging

Seeing genuine connections form between parents helping each other

Ranking #1 on Google for “ParentGyan” keyword in just weeks

What I learned - Community platforms thrive when they focus on trust, safety, and empathy
