Parallax began with a simple question: what if phones could understand where they were in relation to one another? We built a prototype that turns multiple devices into one shared spatial interface, using movement and directional positioning to create responsive visuals across screens. The process involved testing device-to-device sensing, translating spatial changes into visual feedback, and repeatedly refining the interaction in real-world conditions.

The biggest challenge was making the experience feel stable and intuitive despite the limitations of mobile sensing. We’re proud that Parallax makes separate phones feel like parts of one connected system, and we learned that spatial interfaces rely on consistency, timing, and physical testing. Next, we want to improve the positioning system and explore applications in games, collaborative art, music, and storytelling.
