Inspiration
Based on the stories we’ve heard during the opening ceremony & our own experiences. Events like ElleHacks exist because women in tech sorely need a safe place to learn and a support network to help us grow.
What it does
Creates a safe space for women working in tech by helping them to lean in with a peer to peer support network or mentorship.
Challenges we ran into
Incentives for getting companies on board, structuring of data, getting mentors to "volunteer",
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Forging new friendships and coming together to design an application to help build a support system for women in tech.
What we learned
A lot! Api design, data structuring, project management, UI Design. Through answers for our anonymous surveys and networking with mentors as well as students from other universities, we learned that it's a problem with a scope much larger than just us or our friends.
What's next for ParaElle
Taking it one step at a time as we work towards a more inclusive future in our respective STEM fields.
