To provide beginners a safe, engaging platform to practice trading cryptocurrencies without real financial risk.
What it does
PaperTradeX simulates real-time buying and selling of top cryptocurrencies with a virtual wallet, including live price updates, interactive charts, and portfolio tracking.
How we built it
Built with Streamlit and integrated with free APIs like CoinGecko. User data and transactions are stored in a special .json file for that particular user.
Challenges we ran into
Finding reliable, free price data sources without API key restrictions and managing user-specific data persistently in a simple, scalable way.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Delivering a functional, real-time trading simulator with secure user data storage, dynamic charts, and an intuitive interface, all hosted on Streamlit Cloud.
What we learned
Effective API integration, user state management on serverless platforms, and building interactive web apps with Streamlit.
What's next for PaperTradeX
Implement multiplayer trading competitions, leaderboards, mobile support, and expand asset coverage to enhance user engagement and learning.
