Paperless Audit

Inspiration

Traditional audits often rely heavily on paper-based checklists, manual documentation, and scattered records. This makes audits time-consuming, difficult to track, and less transparent. We wanted to build a digital solution that makes the entire audit process paperless, structured, and transparent.

What it does

Paperless Audit is a responsive web application that digitizes the audit process for the food industry and other industries.

Creates and manages dynamic audit templates Supports customizable questions and responses Enables auditors to conduct audits digitally Captures audit responses in a structured format Improves transparency and traceability throughout the audit process Reduces dependency on paperwork and manual processes

How we built it

We built the application using the MERN stack:

MongoDB – storing audit templates, responses, and audit-related data Express.js & Node.js – backend APIs and business logic React.js – responsive and interactive frontend Dynamic Template Builder – allows organizations to create customized audit templates and response types

The application was designed with a modular architecture so that the same platform can support different industries and audit requirements.

Challenges we ran into

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how to design a system around dynamic and configurable workflows rather than fixed forms. We also gained practical experience in building scalable APIs, managing dynamic data structures, and designing user-friendly interfaces for real-world business processes.
