Inspiration

Several studies have shown that we donate to charities when the cause is smaller, meaning we shy away from situations that seem indomitable and gravitate towards problems we think are solvable. A charity requesting funds for world hunger is less likely to get donations than a charity requesting donations for Saturday meals at your local soup kitchen. Such a phenomenon explains why gofundme often receives very large donations for single causes.

What it does

Paperbag shows its users a list of items to purchase for others in need. Users are matched to items based on their spending history and account balance, thus reducing the depth of the supposed problem, and garnering more donations. Example of items include a carton of eggs, a bottle of shampoo, a toaster, and menstural pads.
