Inspiration

Families juggling paperwork across countries have passports, visas, insurance policies and warranties scanned on their NAS, but the dates stay locked inside images. Nobody notices a passport has under six months left until the visa appointment.

What it does

Paper Trail is a UGOS Skill. Say "Paper Trail, check Family/Documents" and it inventories the folder, reads each scan with on-device document AI and OCR, extracts type, holder and dates, and saves a reviewed, source-linked renewal calendar beside the files (optional .ics and file tags). Every row cites its file and page. Unclear dates go to "Needs review"; nothing is guessed. It writes only after the user approves.

Privacy

Everything runs on the NAS. No document leaves the box, and only the last four characters of any ID number are kept.

How we built it

A UGOS Skill (paper-trail) with per-type lead times (180 days for passports, 30 for insurance) and a preview flow: Due soon, Later, Expired, Needs review.
