Inspiration

Isabel came up with the idea to make a web app racing game, using one keyboard like the popular game Fireboy and Watergirl.

What it does

It shows you an opening page with instructions; when you press "start", the game begins. One plane is controlled with the w+s keys and the other is controlled with the arrow keys. When the planes go through a "Jetstream" they get a temporary speed boost. The game ends when one player crosses the finish line, and it shows text to tell which player won. There is a "play again" button.

How we built it

We started with the animation of the race and the controls. Then, jetstreams were added. Then, we worked on the start and end screens.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges included Isabel's limited schedule this weekend, and Casey's limited experience in JavaScript and html.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Casey is proud of using JavaScript for the first time to work on their first web app. Isabel is proud of producing what they did with so little time.

What we learned

We learned so much about functionalities within JavaScript and html. We also learned about managing a project between multiple people and effective communication.

What's next for Paper Racers

The next thing to work on for Paper Racers would probably be to look at adding obstacles in the game, and looking at making different levels of difficulty or speed.
