Inspiration
Papely was born from my love for the feel of a classic paper planner combined with the need for a more organized digital life. I wanted to capture that satisfying moment of jotting down notes and checking off tasks, but in a way that fits into your pocket and syncs with your life on the go. The goal was simple: bring the charm of old-school agendas into the modern world.
What it does
Papely is a calendar app that not only looks stylish but also lets you hide events you don’t want cluttering up your day. Got invited to something you can’t say no to but don’t really care about? No problem—just hide it from your view without deleting it. It’s like tidying up your desk without throwing anything away. Plus, the app’s design gives you that warm, familiar vibe of flipping through a beautifully crafted agenda.
How we built it
I kept things sleek and simple. Using KMP I focused on making the app look and feel just like a real paper planner. The event-hiding feature took some clever coding to ensure it worked smoothly with your existing calendar without causing any hiccups. Typography was a big deal, so I spent a lot of time finding the perfect fonts that would make the app look classy and easy to read.
Challenges we ran into
Finding the sweet spot between style and usability wasn’t easy. I wanted the app to look amazing, but it also had to work perfectly. Making sure the event-hiding feature didn’t mess up your actual calendar was a tricky part, and we had to juggle a lot of design tweaks to keep everything balanced.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am stoked about how Papely turned out—especially the way it blends that old-school paper feel with modern tech. The event-hiding feature is something we think people will really dig, and the overall look of the app has gotten some great feedback. It’s not just a calendar—it’s something you actually enjoy using every day.
What we learned
Building Papely taught me a ton about how important it is to listen to users. Early feedback was key in shaping the app into what it is today. We also learned a lot about the challenges of integrating with native calendars and making sure everything runs smoothly for the user.
What's next for Paper Agenda
We’ve got some cool ideas in the pipeline—like adding more ways to categorize your events, offering different themes, and maybe even syncing with other productivity tools. We’re also thinking about expanding to other platforms so you can have Papely wherever you go. There’s a lot more we want to do to make this app your go-to planner.
