Inspiration

A member of our team saw the constant struggle which distributers had to embrace in order to acomplish their jobs in getting food for those in need. We saw an area of opportunity on which we could really make a difference.

What it does

With the use of firebase realtime database, we were able to create a web-app which enables easier communication among major food suppliers and food rescue organizations.

How we built it

We designed an infraestructure which acts on real time on Google's Firebase. To keep an accesible approach we developed our apps for mobile devices and computers in order to include the most people possible.

Challenges we ran into

The translation between Firebase's datastructure methods and their implementation on javascripts and html sure was a challenge to overcome, it took us all night long. We also tried hard to link this proyect with our personalized domain but this couldn't be done due to DNS problems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is our firts truly interconnected app which is accesible from any device all around the world. The implications and possible uses of the app is algo something that we are enthutiastic about.

What we learned

Many of the database oriented methods and struggles are ones that will forever stay with us. On this kind of proyects most of the time is spent on dealing with problems originated form inexperience. We hope this won't hapen the next time.

What's next for PapakiAlimentos

This is our second Hackathon together, and it is very probable we'll stay in this proyect and many others together. This is something worth sharing or even selling, and it's just a matter of time for us to maybe take hands on this and produce it on a bigger scale.
