Inspiration

Wasting food because of it rotting and passing the expiry date is awful, as it could've been used to make an awesome recipe. Inspired to help people connect with one another and make the best use of their food inventory, we created Pantry Planner.

What it does

Not only is Pantry Planner just an inventory management system for you, but it is a user-friendly interface that helps you connect with your community to share your culinary creations and explore a diverse range of recipes shared by other users. By joining our community, it aids in maintaining a healthy lifestyle with its built-in calorie tracker and elevates your cooking experiences!

How we built it

We built the app using Flask for the backend coupled with a MongoDB Atlas database, Figma to design a user-friendly UI, React.js on the frontend with the Chakra UI CSS framework to craft it, and Auth0 for our secure and authentic login system.

Challenges and Accomplishments

We challenged ourselves by using new technologies like MongoDB and the Auth0 authentication system, which was both challenging and rewarding. Learning about the Mongo Querying language and how to integrate other services into our application was extremely productive.

What's next for Pantry Planner

Pantry Planner can foster an even more inclusive environment through a liking and messaging system, and could take a UI upgrade by the addition of pictures.
