Breakdown

After having to use many different apps for finding recipes, creating a grocery list, finding the best prices, and getting directions to the store, we decided to consolidate the various apps into one simple process. With Pantry Pals, its as simple as typing in a meal name, and the app will automatically generate a recipe and a list of ingredients required for the recipe. Ingredient lists for individual recipes will then be forwarded to a grocery list with all the ingredients from your various different saved meals. Any bulk items that you must purchase that cannot be completely used will automatically enter your virtual fridge. This will allow you to save items and use them for future recipes, saving you an extra item at the grocery store! The grocery list page will also prompt you to find your nearest grocery store that has all your items from the cheapest, using recently flyers from all the aforementioned stores.

Technology

We used the OpenAI API to generate meal data, React and HTML/css to create the front end visuals, mongoDB for the backend, and the Google Maps API to find map data.
