Inspiration
Juggling work, family, and other commitments in our fast-paced lives, I, like many others, struggled with meal planning and creative leftover usage. Witnessing food waste and the frustration of repetitive, unhealthy leftover meals became the spark that ignited our team's passion to build Pantry Pal – your personalized leftovers rescue kitchen app!
What it does
Analyze Leftovers: Image Capturing of what's in your fridge, and we'll personalize and suggest delicious recipes using those ingredients and user-entered preferences including dietary restrictions and quantities of leftovers. Detailed Instructions: provides step-by-step instructions for easy cooking based on user experience level. Nutritional Information: Stay informed about calories, macros for each recipe.
How we built it
Leveraged no code google ai studio platform and used gemini 1.5 pro , free prompt model and performed analysis on what currently gemini 1.5 multi modal is offering . customized embedded python code to consider different user preferences and token length for expected delicious recipes.
Challenges we ran into
Google AI studio is beginner friendly , but we still require understanding of fundamental ai concepts ,and how customizations and limitation of gemini api call .
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learnt how google ai studio works and also how we can provide feed back to gemini models .
What we learned
Learnt how to control the LLM output by using different model control parameters such as temperature and stop sequence. And measuring effect on the output using different models. We also learned the value of asynchronous collaboration as a team.
What's next for Pantry Pal
The next step would be to explore how we can further customize the experience of the user in the app. First off, we'd like to add a proper UI for the app that has a more sleek and graphical look. We'd also like to add more customization by providing the user with recipes from cuisine types of their choice, like Indian, Mexican etc.. Over time, we want to explore how the app can not just suggest recipes from leftovers but also help reduce food wastage in the house.
