Inspiration
We were inspired by the game 'Cooking Mama' and our own experiences during lockdown. We wanted to make a game that combined things people had to do every day and technology. This was because our goal is to make people look forward to doing their daily activities and not make people dependent on the virtual world because covid showed us how people changed due to being too dependent on virtual reality.
What it does
Our game, 'Pantry Pal' allows users to find recipes by typing in common household ingredients. This allows people to find recipes that only use common ingredients that people would most likely have in their house. This also is a way to inspire people to use up their leftover ingredients. After the user makes the food, they can rate the recipe from one to five stars. This allows other users to know what the most popular recipes are currently. Besides for making the recipes, people can also upload a picture of their dish, and that allows other users to vote for the best looking dish. This operates on a weekly basis, and whoever gets the most stars gets crowned the 'Best Looking Dish of the Week!'.
How we built it
Our game is built using HTML, Python, and style.css. The main page is made from HTML with the design created from style.css. Our recipe creator is made with Python, while our voting area was made with all three.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge that we ran into was creating the database where we can store the previous infomation posted so people going on the site can see the what other people posted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that as this is the first thing we ever coded it works the way we wanted it to. And it looks aesthetically pleasing
What we learned
What's next for Pantry Pal
Our next steps would be making it possible to go back to the home page if you're on one of the subpages.
