Inspiration

We are passionate about helping reduce food waste and we all have had similar problems where we have forgotten about the food we bought and left them to waste

What it does

It scans your supermarket receipt and automatically generate expiry date based on the item it detects.

How we built it

We built it using MVVM architecture in Java (Android Studios)

Challenges we ran into

Firstly the time limit of the hackathon and ensuring the image to text detection work.

Making the image to text detect work and the project is implemented using MVVM architecture

What's next for Pantry Management

In the future, the application will be able to recommend recipe based on the items that are about to be expired. A new feature of "Shopping list" will also be added and items that are regularly used are automatically added to the Shopping list. Another feature that will be implemented is carbon footprint calculator of your pantry. Finally a food substitution algorithm to help users reduce their carbon footprint by being more aware of other alternatives.
