Inspiration
We were frustrated about how difficult it is to find events happening around campus. Often times, students have to look in multiple places to find events or opportunities that interest them or may help them.
What it does
Panther Prowl allows you to see campus-wide and city-wide events and activities in one convenient location.
How we built it
We broke down the process of building the site into front-end and back-end teams. We all collaborated on ideas, tested, and problem solved together. The website uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
Challenges we ran into
This was the first time for all of us to code simultaneously as a group and in multiple languages as well. There were many new aspects of programming we had to walk through ourselves, and given the time constraints we had some difficulties with some aspects of full stack development such as merging front end and back end, but we worked together to create solutions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first time participating in our first hackathon ever. We are very proud to have even created a tangible, functional product, and surprised by our ability to learn quickly and problem solve.
What we learned
We learned how to successfully implement an API and integrate its functionality into multiple languages for full stack development.
What's next for Panther Prowl
We think Panther Prowl could be applied to campuses and cities nationwide as a way to promote community building.
