Inspiration

Inspired by having difficulty finding parking on campus, driving miles on campus in circles to find a spot, and walking miles to get to class.

What it does

Accesses real time FIU parking availability in each garage, as well with the distance from each garage to the user's destination. Provides the optimal parking suggestion based on time efficiency.

How we built it

HTML, JavaScript, Python. Utilized Google Maps API to integrate a dynamic map with routes. Utilized Selenium for web scrapping real time parking information.

Challenges we ran into

Difficulties figuring out what tools to use for web scrapping, finding where the live parking data lives, faced hurdles as we discovered how to work with the Google Maps API. Many difficulties configuring our Github and VSCode and connecting our json file in our code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully integrated a Google Maps API and retrieved real time parking data from our university!

What we learned

We all learned new skills (Web Dev, API Usage, Web Scrapping) and stepped outside of our comfort zone!

What's next for Panther Park

Implement accessibility features, include more information about campus facilities, move towards a mobile application, and display available parking garages based on proximity and capacity.
